An overdue post

So this post has been sitting, unfinished for about 2 weeks now. It seem only fitting that I should complete it. Things have been quite busy over the last few weeks for me. I got a promotion at work and have been trying to train for my new position while train my replacement. I purchased my first new car ever and will be posting pictures of it soon for it's blog unveiling.

These were taken on a trip out to Forest Park in Portland where we visited the Koi & Goldfish show held at the World Forestry Center. The purpose of the trip was to gather information and sources for our upcoming plan for installing our pond in the backyard (hubby's pet project). I love Koi and was very surprised at how big they can get. Some where longer than my forearm. After touring the vendors, we headed out for a short walk to the arboretum. We didn't walk around too much as my shoes were not the best for climbing around on unpaved trails. Perhaps another trip out there is in store for us before we start getting into Fall weather.

Saturday - Ho'ike & Hawaiian Festival

There are some pretty cool things to see and do around Vancouver and Portland. One of which is the festivals that happen every weekend. Hubby and I decided to check out the Ho'ike & Hawaiian Festival which was just 5 mins away from us in Ester Shore Park, downtown Vancouver. There were lots of people there watching the performances, looking at the vendors or eating from the food carts. We watched one dance troupe perform. Hula looks like fun and seems very relaxing with its slow rhythmical movements. We also headed up a few blocks to check to see when the Kiggins Theater will open. There are a lot of revitalization of downtown Vancouver going on and I'm excited to have a new theater pub to hang out in with the hubby. Have my fingers crossed that it'll be a cool place to hang out.

My birthday adventures

Last Monday was my birthday and to celebrate, Hubby and I decided to take a mini vacation and head out to the Oregon Coast. We ended up going to Newport so I could visit the aquarium (I love seeing fish and sharks are one of my favorite animals). It was threatening to rain as we left Portland, but it was beautiful on the beach. The aquarium was great. I love the way that they designed the place to feel like you are outdoors on some rocky beach area. They had a seabird enclosure, giant octopus, seals, sea otters and my personal favorite, a water tunnel there you can walk thru and have the sharks swim over you!

This guy was freaking huge! The body was the size of a very large dinner plate.

We stayed in McMinnville at the Hotel Oregon. Really cool place with a roof top bar. Didn't sit outside as it was getting super cold by the time we decided to head up there for dinner. But the view from the top was beautiful. Didn't get any pictures while we were there and I'm kinda kicking myself for not being a more proactive photographer. Overall, my birthday trip was a blast and it was nice to get away and chill with the Hubby. Between he and I both working now, it's hard to find time to get away, even for the two days that we did go. Plan on going to Newport again. We discovered a fantastic beach hidden away from the city. Hopefully if the weather warms up (soon!!!) we'll be heading out to the beach again.

Orla Again

Meet my newest love, a Mainline Orla Kiely bag in Summer Berry print. I love the leather details, the two strap option and the bright cherry pinks and reds of this bag. It's the perfect size too to tote around to work, or just out for the day. I can fit water bottle, my lunch, wallet, keys, iPod, phone, book, cardigan, and other random assorted items I carry on a daily basis. Now I'm on the hunt for some of her vintage car print bags. I think I am developing a new bag crush.

New bag love

It has come to my realization that I have not written a new post in awhile. I guess it mainly stemmed from the lack of inspiration in how I've been dressing of late. Work is getting more and more hectic as people put in new orders for their summer projects, so putting together a stylish outfit has been on the back burner. Yesterday was the end of my work week and I'm now into my weekend. The weather was warm and sunny, great reason to get out of my jeans and throw on a summery skirt. The best part about yesterday was the gift I received from a fashionista friend of mine from the UK. As you can guess from the title of my post, I was sent a new bag.

This is my first Orla Kiely bag and I love it. Because of the oilcloth, it's perfect for Portland weather. I love the design, the colors, and the many pockets inside. It's great size, can hold my keys, wallet, water bottle, mini notebook, phone, iPod Touch, and various other little odds and ends I carry with me on a daily basis.

The Anthopologie Tag Sale continues with more underwhelming selections (but with an extra 25% that will end this Sunday). Maybe it's just me and the fact that I didn't really like much of what was offered this season. Hopefully things will change with new products from the Summer collection. I bumped into Kristen from Lovely Apidae. We got to chat for a little bit and she is as wonderful in person as she come across in her emails and posts. I picked up the Skylark blouse, but unfortunately when I got it home, I realized I took the wrong size with me out of the fitting room. On the hunt for the right size now before the extra percentage goes away. Did anyone have any success at the Tag sale this time around?

Cheers!
